De-Stress Days

CEO Activities

Once they are nominated in June and selected to serve for the following school year, the CEOs meet in the summer and throughout the year to plan activities that promote Character Education at Oxford Academy. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Caught in the Act! (CIA) Program
  • Monthly Attributes of Good Character (MAGC) workshops
  • MAGC publicity via posters, flyers, announcements
  • Quarterly O-Social events
  • Patriot of Character Awards for adults (in conjunction with HSA Awards)
  • De-Stress Days (post-testing)
  • Service Learning Projects (Power Hour Tutoring at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim, and others)
  • Website maintenance
  • NEW PROJECTS for the 2005-06 school year:
    • CEO newsletters and/or “Character Corner” in The Gamut (school newspaper) and/or The Orator (PTSA newsletter)
    • video announcements
    • student and parent surveys
    • Cluster activities (by grade level)
    • a weekend Character Retreat with the Building Bridges team

Many other character building activities happen regularly at Oxford Academy and they are organized by a variety of groups and clubs, including the Associated Student Body (ASB), Building Bridges, Peer Assistance Leadership (PAL), Friday Night Live (FNL), Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), International Club, National Honor Society (NHS), and others. The activities include, but are not limited to, these:

  • Quotes on Daily Announcements
  • Student of the Month Awards based on Character
  • Mix-It-Up Lunches
  • The Buddy Program
