The Relaxing Celebration- and FUNdraiser-in-one!

It's a fact... we OACMs suffer from stress! After a long schoolyear of taxing academic activity and once all of the testing is finished in May, OA Patriots spend 2 days celebrating their stress-free status during lunch (Friday is usually has an extended lunch period) at the Annual De-Stress Days, sponsored and organized by the CEOs. The objective is for a fun time to be had by all while raising funds for character-related causes!

Some activities available to all OACMs free-of-charge are facials, manicures, fingerpainting, playdoh sculpting, boxing with Goofy, Yoga-in-the-Quad with Mrs. Casanova (the first year), and Cardio-Kickboxing with Mrs. Spencer (this past year)! Our money-maker is the always popular FAFSA (Friday Auction of Faculty, Staff, and Administrators) in which students bid for teacher and staff volunteered services, such as a free lunch, a free mile (that they don't have to run in P.E.), a car wash, a gift certificate for a specified amount, transportation to class, and note-taking services during the teacher's conference period (to mention a few).

Playdoh Recipe (compliments of Lindsay B.!)

    2 cups flour
    2 cups cold water
    1 cup salt
    4 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/4 cup oil
    food coloring

    1. Mix dry ingredients together and stir well.
    2. Add food coloring to water.
    3. Add water and oil to dry mixture and mix until smooth.
    4. Place over medium heat and stir.
    5. Mix until dough-like and does not stick to fingers.
    6. Knead while warm.
    7. Store in covered container.

Homemade Facials

  • Purees... yogurt (cools and softens the skin), honey (acts as an anti-bacterial)
  • Masks... banana (reduces wrinkles), oatmeal (detoxifies)
  • Cleansers... grape, cucumber, potato
  •
